“We were literally fighting tears the entire slideshow because it is so special to see everyday moments. I told Fred it feels like I am constantly trying to describe my day or tell people what it’s like with three small kiddos at home. With your photos it not only validated everything I do as a mom, but captured those perfect moments that will now be a memory I can see forever. I just love it!”

Welcome to Bright Poppies Photography!
I am a family lifestyle & documentary photographer located in Anchorage, Alaska!
Family Lifestyle & Documentary Photography without all the stress!
What do I mean by documentary photography? It is capturing authentic moments! This is not posed photography- it is candid moments captured in an artistic way!
Allow me to tell your family’s story!
I shoot lifestyle and documentary storytelling portraits and prefer to be in you and your child’s normal setting, i.e. your home or a favorite spot that your family goes to. The point is to capture the connections of your family. Planning an activity during your session will aid in taking the focus off picture taking and put it on time spent together!
What type of activities?
The options are endless! We can go to the zoo, we can go on a hike, we can go sledding, we can go to the playground… I can make suggestions based on what is important in your family life.
Don’t forget special occasions too!
Birthdays, Baptism, First Communion, Dance and Piano Recitals or any first time doing…. insert activity here.
My goal is to create a relaxed atmosphere for you and your family. I want your children to play and be children so as to capture an authentic portrait of them at this stage in their life! Ten years from now I want you and your children to pull out your album or gaze at the framed art on your wall and to just remember when. Life goes too fast and before you know it your children will have grown!
Prior to the session I will also send out a questionnaire asking you about you and your child(ren) and the special traditions that are a part of your family. It is fun to remember the little things in your family’s life especially since the season of your life changes as children grow to different stages in their childhood.
